The A Designs P-1 mic preamp module is part of the company's line of unique modules, each with their own color - both sonic and visual.
The P-1 is a 500 Series Format of the highly successful Pacifica.
These Pre-amplifiers are original designs stemming from the inspiration of the “Quad Eight Sound”. Each has its own unique character. Depending on which microphone you use, you will be able to open a world of color and sound to inspire you and your recordings.
The P-1 has custom wound input and output transformers which will translate into a truly detailed & round sound.
Another feature of the P-1 is a “DI” (direct inject) for use with electric instruments. We find that this is a great pre for Bass Guitar and Keyboards; delivering fine detail and clarity. Also, you may like to try the P-1 (depending on microphone) for your snare or kick when recording drums!

The A-Designs P-1 preamp module is based on the original Quad Eight Sound designs. The company's "EM Series" is a twist on their popular Pacifica-based P-1 module. Each color (Silver, Blue, Red, and Gold) has its own sound, which is accomplished by using different custom wound output and input transformers. This gives you a large palette of preamp "coloration" to add to the sound of your favorite microphones or instruments.
As with all A-Designs modules, this preamp offers features such as a phase switch, 20dB pad, 48V phatom power, aluminum gain knob, and thumb screws for easy install.
