API 8200A

The 8200A is similar to the 8200, Except that it has built in summing amps for the stereo, solo and send outputs. Several 8200s and 7600s may be linked to the 8200A, and it them becomes the master, using the unit's internal summing amplifers (there are, by design, no master controls as the user must connect this unit to an external control section).
These summing amps feature stereo API 2520 outputs with transformers for the stereo bus, nominal +4dBu, summing outputs for the sends and solo at -2dBu nominal level. This option is perfect when a rack of 8200s are used as additional inputs to a console and end up patched into a couple of faders or into the mix bus. The 8200A is not meant to be used with the 7800, unless the summing option is disabled.

The API 8200A offers direct control over level, panning, a balanced insert, and two auxiliary sends on each of the eight balanced line input channels, while also providing solo and mute functions. This new 8200A model additionally includes the necessary summing amps for the aux sends, busses and stereo mix bus - giving it the ability to be used as a stand-alone line mixer/summing amp!

The 8200A is configured with industry-standard DB-25 multi-pin connectors for easy integration into existing audio systems. All external audio connections are balanced +4dBu.

In addition to allowing DAW users to bypass their digital audio bus and take advantage of API's analog audio circuitry, the 8200A can also be used in a variety of mix and submix applications. Those include studio recording and mixing, live recording, confidence monitoring, and even ADR and Foley monitor playback. Multiple 8200A modules may be linked to satisfy multi-channel applications.
