Allen & Heath's iDR0 for the iLive Surface provides a cost effective and compact solution to users who wish to mix common sources for different applications; such as FOH and Monitor, or need an additional mix for broadcast or recording that allows full processing and mix capability with the source material.
The iDR0 is like the little brother of the iDR10, and needs an iLive surface to control it.
Allen & Heath iDR0 Features :
- 2U Rack space
- iDR-64 DSP Mix Engine
- iDR0 Rack CPU
- iDR Rack Remote Audio components of the iDR10 MixRack that replaces traditional analogue I/O with audio provided via EtherSound connection
- Includes; iDR-64 RackExtraDSP CPU, M-RAB, ESA, ESB
The iDR0 unit is modular and uses the same processing PCBs as the iDR10, the ‘mix rack’ which provides I/O and all processing and mixing functions with the current iLive system. Processing for 64 inputs, with full dynamics and EQ, into 32 mixes with dynamics, EQ and graphic EQ is provided, and can be controlled by any of the iLive surfaces over Ethernet. The back-up power supply unit, iPS10, can be connected to the iDR0 if required.
The 2 rack space iDR0 includes the iDR-64 RackExtraDSP CPU, M-RAB, and ESA & ESB.
iDR0 includes the new ‘iDR-64 Mix Engine Rack Extra’ PCB, which provides the digital signal processing capability for the rack, offering 8 effects engines, which can run system effects or can be inserted into input or mix channels. The iDR-64 Mix Engine Rack Extra module is also available as an upgrade to existing iLive systems.
The iDR0 follows in the family of the iDR range, being a 19" rack mountable mix-brain. It contains the iDR-64 DSP, CPU and remote audio components of the iDR10 MixRack, but replaces traditional analogue I/O with audio provided via an EtherSound connection. Think of the iDR0 as a fully loaded iDR10 with blanking plates installed in place of the I/O, and with the EtherSound option installed.
The iDR0 is ideal for either mixing audio from an EtherSound network, or for instance taking a 64 channel digital-split (on EtherSound channel B) from a front-of-house iLive system to an iDR0 to mix monitors. The iDR0 needs either an iLive surface to control it, or the forthcoming System Manager software.
A complete compact iLive system can be made up of an iDR0 and an iLive surface, with 4 modules of analogue I/O in the surface, and the iDR0 used just for its CPU and DSP functions. Audio can also be distributed if needed by using third party EtherSound breakout boxes.
iLive V1.2 software :
Allen & Heath’s new iLive V1.2 software, which is pre-installed in the iDR0 unit, has also been released. This new version provides many new tools for the user, including a range of new FX, such as delays, reverbs, ADT Doubler, Flanger - which emulates old classic flangers - and Chorus. Also included in the new software suite is a 4-band parametric EQ on FX returns, the option to insert an FX engine into a channel as if it were an external device (‘plug-in style’), and a patchbay extension making external inputs available for matrices, groups, aux and mains. A full list of all the additional features is available on the iLive website, where the new software is available as a free download.
