EAR 824

The EAR 824 is a high quality dual channel tube/valve microphone preamplifier - It's easy to use and makes an excellent choice whether one is seeking to upgrade from an existing microphone preamplifier, or looking for a preamplifier to go with a newly purchased microphone.

The audio circuitry conforms to the EAR principles of simplicity and subjective “transparency”, with low istortion at all normal signal levels. This allows the unit to extract the maximum performance from any microphone with the minimum of signal degradation.

The unit employs wide band balanced output transformers and is capable of driving long lengths of high grade microphone cable, such as would be used on location recordings. Front panel mounted gain controls for each channel provide 44 dB of adjustment in 2 dB steps.

This combined with a switchable 10dB attenuator enables the EAR 824 to accept signals from 1mV to line level. 48V phantom powering is provided as standard, however other configurations are available to order, including 130V power for B & K line level microphones and a custom EAR 60dB transformer for use with ribbon microphones.
