PLM Series by Lab Gruppen: A revolution in professional audio. Powered Loudspeaker Management = Total Loudspeaker Control.
Now there’s a whole new way of doing business in touring and installations!
The PLM 10000Q, the first in Lab.gruppen’s PLM Series, combines cutting-edge technologies from two of the leading innovators in the live event production industry: Dolby Lake and Lab.gruppen. These technologies have been closely and intelligently integrated to add up to much more than the sum of their parts. The result is a new concept in professional audio: Powered Loudspeaker Management (PLM).
PLM brings together the ground-breaking signal processing that has made Dolby Lake a touring standard worldwide. And an amplifier platform based on the extraordinary power density, sonic purity, and proven reliability of Lab.gruppen’s flagship FP+ Series.
Conceived from the outset as a comprehensive drive system for any type of loudspeaker, the PLM 10000Q seamlessly integrates the functions of crossover, delay, equalization, limiting, audio networking, and power amplification.
It adds up to an unprecedented level of user control, reconfiguration flexibility, and precise system tuning for optimum performance. In addition, revolutionary new load verification and performance monitoring features assure extended reliability for all system components, loudspeakers included.
Lab.gruppen’s PLM Series is a seamless fusion of cutting-edge technologies from two innovators in live audio: Lake and Lab.gruppen. Each PLM product combines groundbreaking Lake signal processing – the world standard for flexibility and sound quality – with an amplifier platform based on the power density, sonic purity, and demonstrated reliability of Lab.gruppen’s FP+ Series.
Intelligently merged, these complementary technologies add up to more than the sum of their parts. The result is Powered Loudspeaker Management (PLM), a comprehensive loudspeaker drive system integrating crossover, delay, equalization, limiting, audio networking, and power amplification.
The expanded PLM Series now affords users total flexibility in re-configuring racks for power-hungry subwoofers, line arrays, or stage monitors.

The Power Platform - FP+... Plus :
The power output section of the PLM™ Powered Loudspeaker Management™ system starts with the proven foundation of Lab.gruppen’s newest touring amplifier platform, the FP+ Series. And then takes it up a notch.
All essentials of the FP+ Series are packed inside. The output stage is Lab.gruppen’s patented Class TD®, which couples the efficiency of Class D topologies to the sonic purity of Class B designs. The Regulated Switch Mode Power Supply (R.SMPS™) provides stable rail voltages even with significant fluctuations in line voltage. Other features in common with the FP+ Series include extraordinary power density, the Intercooler® copper-finned cooling system, Power Average Limiting (PAL) to prevent tripping of mains breakers, and a full suite of protection features.
From there, the PLM Series steps forward into the digital world. Both input gain and level attenuation are set in DSP for greater precision and software GUI control. Also, Lab.gruppen’s proprietary Voltage Peak Limiter (VPL™) – here renamed the Inter-Sample Voltage Peak Limiter (ISVPL™) – is implemented in the digital domain for increased accuracy.
No More Plug and Pray…
The PLM™ Series Powered Loudspeaker Management™ systems includes a revolutionary set of tools for fast, accurate load verification and real-time performance monitoring.
The key to both features is the LoadLibrary™, a comprehensive database that provides a unique “Fingerprint” (load characteristic) for each loudspeaker model in the system. Using this data and on-board DSP, LoadSmart™ compares predicted response by applying a brief test signal. Any potential problems are identified instantly. During performance, SpeakerSafe™ monitors driver performance to avoid power compression and provide detailed critical information about system-wide driver performance.
Lake® Processing :
The PLM™ Series amplifier platform seamlessly integrates into the Lake Processing environment. All PLM Series models contain two full-featured Lake Processor modules, each offering precise settings for gain, delay, crossover slope, equalization, and limiting.
Exclusive Lake Processing algorithms are included for Raised Cosine Equalization, linear phase crossovers, LimiterMax™ loudspeaker protection, and Iso-Float™ ground isolation.
The Lake Processor gives audio professionals unparalleled power to shape and optimize sound in a variety of environments.
Regardless of the make or type of loudspeaker system, the venue size or acoustics, or the program material, the integral Lake Processing in the PLM Series will help you create a more consistent sound with less time and hassle in system set-up.
Lake® Analyzer Bridge :
Lake Controller software provides a unified interface for control and monitoring of all functions of the PLM™ Series Powered Loudspeaker Management™ systems. In addition to controlling all parameters of Lake Processing, the Controller also provides control and monitoring of exclusive Lab.gruppen features: digital input gain and attenuation, and comprehensive load verification and monitoring via LoadSmart™ and SpeakerSafe™.
The Lake Controller software is optimized for a Tablet PC. Operation is easy and intuitive, bringing back the “feel” of real-time analog faders and controls. The software will operate on any newer Windows® PC equipped with an Ethernet network interface. The same Controller interface can be used to operate external Dolby® Lake Processors, Lake Contour™ and Lake Mesa Quad EQ™ processors alongside the on-board processing inside the PLM Series.
The Dante™ Network :
With the PLM™ Series, there’s no need to install separate modules or configure custom software for integrated digital audio networking. Every Powered Loudspeaker Management™ system is equipped as standard with Dante – a no hassle, self-configuring digital audio networking solution from Audinate® of Australia.
Based on the newest developments in networking technology, Dante provides extremely reliable, sample accurate, low latency audio distribution over Ethernet. With Zen™, Audinate’s automatic device discovery and system configuration protocol, complicated network set-up is a thing of the past. With Dante, PLM Series products (as well as discrete Dolby® Lake® Processors and other Dante-enabled devices) automatically find each other on the network and configure themselves.
Creating a Dante network is a true plug-and-play experience.
