Schoeps BLM 03 C
Low Profile Boundary-Layer Condenser PZM Microphone
The Schoeps BLM 03 C Boundary-layer Single-diaphragm capsule, three inch disk - A miniature boundary layer mic capsule with an attached cable to connect to a Colette amplifier.
Colette Modular Microphone System single-diaphragm capsule, Schoeps BLM 03 C Boundary-layer, three inch disk, in Matte Gray finish only. The BLM 03 C is recommended in those cases where the BLM 3 is too large (e.g. for TV or film sound) or too heavy (e.g. when mounted in the interior of a car under the top, or under a piano lid). It offers all the recognized advantages of the BLM 3, while its smaller size permits more unobtrusive microphone placement. Its shallow profile and circular shape can often be disguised or hidden, as under a light tablecloth. An active cable hard-wired to the BLM 03 C allows it to be joined to any microphone amplifier of the Colette Series to become a complete microphone. The active filter CUT 1 may also be added. It should be noted, however, that any boundary-layer microphone must be placed on a sufficiently large sound-reflecting surface for adequate low-frequency pickup. For speech applications as, for example, when a conference is to be recorded, a table top may be sufficient; but most music recordings will require the use of a larger surface.
