Moog Etherwave Standard Theramin
The first electronic instrument was the theremin, played by moving ones hands around—but not touching—its antennas. This primitive device provided unearthly sounds for Sci-Fi and Horror movies during the heyday of the Drive-In. In the 1950’s a young Bob Moog got his start building theremins. The instrument received an unexpected boost in to the pop music world in 1966 when The Beachboy’s “Good Vibratons”, with its soaring theremin line, became a number one hit. This ushered in the modern age of synthesis. Soon Moog was making his groundbreaking synthesizers. In the 1990’s Moog endeavored to once-again build theremins, designing the Etherwave, a quality theremin that retains many characteristics of the originals, including a five-octave pitch range and reliable spacing between notes for playability. Antennas are nickel-plated 3/8" brass tube and cabinets are furniture-grade hardwood. The Etherwave is fitted with an adapter for mounting on a mic-stand and is designed for use with an amplifier. The unit ships fully- assembled and comes with an instructional video (which, believe us, you’re going to need!)
