This monitor guarantees ultra-realistic voicing, whilst offering optimum acoustic integration in a small room. Its design permits a listening position from 16" (40cm), even in the least advantageous locations (ex. proximity to reverberating surfaces). The CMS 40 is the perfect tool for post-production and home studios. And even in the biggest and best studios, it proves to be an excellent second monitoring system, allowing one to quickly check how the mix translates onto smaller speakers.
Customer service experience with Sonic Circus was excellent. 2nd time dealing with them, and would gladly do business with them again.
However, my review of the CMS 40 is similar to another review posted here. I decided to try these out from other users experience, and so far have been disappointed with their performance. Granted, they're a newer speaker for me, so I'm taking into account that I may need to get used to a new 'sound' in my room.
I found a mid-range build up in these speakers that I am having a hard time getting past. Don't know if the CMS 50 may solve this problem with a larger speaker... Is this because of my untreated room? Position in the room? I have tried multiple positions on these speakers, but that mid-range build-up is aggravating.
I will be taking these speakers to another room I work out of, to see if this solves the problem.

This was my first experience shopping at Sonic Circus. The service, in a word: Outstanding. An exchange, re-order, and delivery were handled with consummate professionalism and courtesy. Given the quality of service and the spectrum of products they stock, Sonic Circus will be my first stop in all future Pro Audio-related purchases. Thank you.
Re the Focal CMS 40: I purchased these unheard, based purely on online reviews. I found these monitors to be utterly appalling -- especially given their price. As an avid audiophile for over 40 years, I'm more than a little familiar with high-end sound. Focal is a world-renowned brand, and their top-of-the-line offerings are of unimpeachable quality (I've heard a few). I've also heard the Twin 6 monitors, which I found to be excellent. This review pertains only to the CMS 40. In my view, PMC make the finest studio monitors in the world, albeit at a price.( I've owned a pair of TB1SAs. Brilliant.) But for sheer value, in my opinion, nothing beats JBL. A pair of LSR2325s just replaced the Focals in my home studio -- at half the price.
