Neve 1073 Mic Pre/Eq Reissue
The 1990's saw the price of vintage Neve 1073 pre/EQ modules steadily skyrocket. And it's understandable. For years folks have tried to emulate the 1073's musical coloration; some have come close, but none have succeeded. Finally, Neve decided to do us all a huge service and re-manufacture 1073's to exact specifications. This was not easy; many components were out of production and had to be fabricated from scratch. But the results are stunning. Now you can have the real deal, brand new. We like to say it's the vintage sound without the vintage headache.
Re-manufactured by Neve to exacting specifications, the legend of the 1073 lives on. If one wants a vintage sound without the vintage headache, the remanufactured Neve 1073 is the perfect audio solution. We found these to sound better than the vintage ones we had kicking around the shop and attribute it to the integrity of the ageless components inside of these beauties.
First launched in 1970, the 1073 modules have established themselves as one of the most sought after micpres in the history of recording. This is especially true for vocals. Understandably, these module became probably the most copied micpre out there, and AMS-Neve decided to reissue them to exact replicas.
The module features a Class A amp with 3 bands of Eq (one fixed high frequency and two switchable bands with cut and boost) and a highpass filter.
Highlights:
- Classic transformer microphone preamp amp (Class A design)
- 3 EQ bands
- Hand-built and hand-wired to original 1970s design
- HP filter
- Neve designed hand-wound transformers
- Both inputs are transformer balanced and earth free
- Microphone Input: Gain +80db to +20dB in 5dB steps.
- Line Input: Input impedance 10k ohms, gain +20dB to -10dB in 5dB steps.
- Output: Maximum output is >+26dBu into 600 ohms.
- Output is transformer balanced and earth free
- Distortion: Not more than 0.07% from 50Hz to 10kHz at +20dBu output
- (80kHz bandwidth) into 600 ohms.
- Freq Response: +/-0.5dB 20Hz to 20kHz, -3dB at 40kHz. EQ Out.
The 1073 can be purchased as single or multiple units. Each 1073 module has been designed to perfectly retrofit into the 80 Series Neve Classic consoles as part of a channel strip or can be mounted in a custom frame.
