Requisite L2M MKIII
A sweet new take on optical compression, the L2-M is not unlike a stereo LA-2A, but with some modern refinements. Probably the coolest is the "response curve" control, a continuously variable knob that selects which frequency range the compression is most responsive to. Perfect for mastering with minimal artifacts, but also very appropriate for tracking and mixing.
All the features of the L1 in a two channel package with the addition of Response Curve "Body", and 24-step precision attenuators for Output Level adjustment.
The Response control, "Body" tailors the frequencies that the limiter is sensitive to. As an example: set fully counter-clockwise the limiter attenuates all frequencies equally and is flat in its response. Set fully clockwise, the limiter will attenuate 15K an additional 10dB (tapering down to 1K). This control is continuously variable which allows subtle adjustment and is quite effective in providing fullness to the mix without the boom of a bass control.
The 24-step switches are calibrated in 1/2dB increments for precise control (within .05dB) and repeatability of settings. A +10dB multiplier switch works in conjunction with the Output Level control to give a total range of 24dB in 1/2dB increments.
Gain Reduction adjust, VU adjust and Stereo calibration are located on the front panel for quick and easy set-up. Audio capacitors are custom made Requisite Caps. The L2M is ideal for the most critical mastering applications and is quite suitable for tracking and mixing.
MKIII is now available for pre-order. After six years of sucess with the MKII, The L2-M has taken on a new revision. Now in a 4RU enclosure and adding a new 'limiter feedback' knob which adds upper harmonics and offers even more tonal sculpting than previous models. Polypropylene capacitors throughout the entire signal path ensure quiet quality.
