EAB RE85 Tube Console (Vintage)
This vintage EAB RE85 recording console was manufactured in Germany some time in the 1960’s. This version of the RE85 console is loaded with twelve input modules that feed a single stereo bus. This RE85 also has two aux sends, talkback control, and oscillator.
Ten of the input channels are loaded with VE12 modules; these are very similar to the Telefunken V101/102 micpres with a two band +/-9dB EQ which have High and Low shelf’s. The other two input channels are loaded with VE12P input modules that have an expanded EQ section with a selectable +8db mid frequency boost control. Both versions of the VE12 modules have mic preamps that have a max gain of 60db. All input modules have custom mic input transformers, custom 50k ohm faders and use E283CC tubes that are a more reliable version of the 12AX7.
The console is further loaded with a PT50 oscillator module, two VH40 EMT plate control modules and two VS21 master fader modules. Original KV65 and N300 links power amp module are also included along with VPF10, L20, and VE6 modules are also included.
The current asking price of $28,500 if for the console in un-restored condition. The capacitors and tubes appear to be all original. Although all of the components are complete, a full restoration will be required to put this rare console back into service. You may inspect the console here at Sonic Circus.
