Earthworks EA-IM 30kHz Gooseneck Installation Microphones IM3, IM6, IM10 & IM12
The Earthworks EA-IM Series gooseneck microphones are designed for permanent installation in ceilings and tabletops for conferencing and other speech applications.
Performance
When capturing every word is critical, the Earthworks EA-IM microphones are the most reliable miking solution. Optimized for speech, the IM microphones feature a flat frequency response out to 30kHz that delivers the highest level of speech intelligibility and articulation. This means less straining to understand the words being spoken due to poor audio quality, so more time can be spent understanding the message being transmitted.
Whether speaking directly on-axis or to the sides of the microphone, the Earthworks EA-IM microphone always reproduces the speaker’s voice with incredible clarity and intelligibility. This wider coverage also means that fewer Earthworks microphones are required to properly cover a conference room, cutting down on the number of channels of DSP, cables and other ancillary equipment required for the system. Compatible with all DSP systems that provide 24-48V phantom power, the IM microphones can easily integrate into existing system designs or new installations.
Construction
Designed with aesthetics in mind, the IM microphones feature a slim 0.375“ (9.5mm) gooseneck that allows precise positioning of the microphone for optimal coverage. The microphone flange measures just over 1.4 inches (36.5mm) wide and 0.125 inches (3.2mm) tall, mounting flush into the tabletop or ceiling.
Options
The Earthworks EA-IM microphones are available with a 3, 6, 10 or 12 inch flexible gooseneck. Black, white and silver finishes are available.
Where Intelligibility Meets Performance

Less Is More
Whether speaking directly on-axis or to the sides of the microphone, the IM microphone always reproduces the speaker’s voice with incredible clarity and intelligibility. Form Follows Function
Designed with aesthetics in mind, the Installation Series microphones deliver a low profile miking option for conferencing, boardrooms, universities, government and other institutions. Options include omnidirectional boundary or cardioid gooseneck microphones in a variety of lengths. The LumiComm Touch Ring is a programmable LED light ring with touch sensor, which allows the integrator to assign function and LED color (i.e. on/off status indicator). The microphones are available in several finishes to seamlessly blend into the room’s aesthetic.

Charts
Coverage Area
The narrow usable portion of a conventional microphone’s polar response (with full frequency response) provides only a narrow area that will pick up sounds without high frequency losses at the sides of the microphone. The figures on the left indicate how many conventional microphones it takes to cover a room (with an 8 foot ceiling) and provide the full frequency response of the microphone at the head of a six foot man, in standing position.
The figure on the right shows the much wider polar response (with full frequency response) of Earthworks directional High Definition Microphones, requiring fewer microphones. In addition you also have more sound level before feedback, no spotlighting or highlighting, more rejection of sounds from the rear of the microphone, in addition to a vastly superior sound quality.
Testimonial
“Great consistent coverage and a clean, natural, and transparent sound as I have come to expect from the Earthworks product. It makes good audio easy.”
Dan Burdett, db Media Group
“They just simply work, and do so better than any other ceiling mics we’ve encountered. The biggest difference is the pickup pattern and coverage area.”
Mark Templeton, Casaplex
“The audio quality was superior to other ceiling microphones we’d used for conferencing applications. Improved clarity, appropriate pickup patterns and fewer issues with distance from microphone to participant were some of the key improvements with the Earthworks IM3-W microphones.”
Aaron Obstfeld, Audio Visual Design Group
