SSL 611 500 EQ
The E-Series EQ Module for 500 Series racks reproduces the legendary sonic signature of an early 80’s classic, the Solid State Logic SL 4000 E console channel strip, which has featured on countless classic recordings from the 1980’s to the present. The E-Series EQ Module features two different EQ’s found on editions of the console produced between 1981 and 1989. Each EQ has unique response curves and tonal character. Historically the type of EQ fitted in an individual console was distinguished by the colors used on the LF knob caps so the two flavors have become known as the ‘Brown’ and ‘Black’ EQ’s. On the E Series EQ Module you can switch between these two different flavors of EQ that have been loved by generations of professional producers.
Moog Ladder 500 Series Dynamic Ladder Filter
The Ladder brings a new dynamic dimension to the 500 Series. It smooths out the harshest of tracks and adds warmth and body to any sound. The Ladder excites dull or lifeless tracks, and has the power to shape sound in a way that is excitingly unique.
AEA RPQ500 high-gain 500 Series Mic Pre, with Curve Shaper
The RPQ500 module, designed after the successful RPQ preamp, provides the same ultra-clean, high-gain signal path that has earned AEA preamps their great reputation, but in a 500 series package. JFET circuit topology provides all the dynamics, subwoofer bass, and fast transients that your microphones can record. The NoLoad input impedance above 10K Ohms means the RPQ won’t load down a mic and change its sound. Low Energy Storage circuit design instantly recovers from overloads for superior dynamic performance. The original RPQ with CurveShaper was designed to fully capture every nuance of ribbon microphones: vintage or modern, passive or phantom powered. Engineers have discovered that the RPQ500 also complements their moving coil, condenser mics. By virtue of its sonic qualities and versatility, the VPR Alliance approved AEA RPQ500 is the tool of choice for all microphones whenever a true and pristine signal path is desired.
Great River 32EQ
The Great River 32EQ is a parametric, four band equalizer of proprietary design with a design history going back to the highly respected Harrison Consoles. This 500 series module also includes the parametric, second order high-pass and low-pass filters made famous in the 32 series consoles. The proprietary design of the equalization stages allows full reciprocal operation of the boost/cut controls both as to frequency and to phase response. Special circuitry automatically adjusts the effective bandwidth under all conditions. Continuously variable frequency selection and boost or cut amount provides proper equalization for almost any desired effect. The high band HI extends from 800 Hz to 16 kHz. The two mid-ranges MID are overlapping; one extends from 400 Hz to 8 kHz while the other goes from 200 Hz to 4 kHz. The low range LO covers 40 Hz to 800 Hz. Additionally, the low and high ranges are selectable to be either shelving or peaking. The mid-ranges are peaking. There is an in/out IN switch for the four bands of boost/cut equalization. The parametric high-pass and low-pass filters have 12dB per octave cut off characteristics. They are of an all electronic design, and contain no inductors. The high-pass filter has a range of 25 Hz to 2.75 kHz and the low-pass filter extends from 160 Hz to 20 kHz. Continuously variable HP and LP controls allow both subtle corrections as well as special effects. There is a separate in switch for the filters so that they can be inserted into the signal path independently of the equalizer. The equalizer is a unity gain design, delivering excellent noise and headroom performance.
