Top-end, old-school ribbon mic, with a twist. The Beyerdynamic M160 does not exhibit a figure 8 pattern; it is a Hypercardioid.
Originally designed to be used in conjunction with the M130 for M-S stereo applications, the M160 does just fine on its own, excelling at guitar cabinets, acoustic instruments, and percussion.
