BURL Black Bundle B16 Mothership 3 BMB4 Soundgrid Motherboard and BAD16, BDA16
Mothership 3, released in conjunction with the BURL BLACK series, unlocks the true channel count potential of the Mothership. Now with Mothership 3, up to 64 channels of I/O (@44.1 kHz and 48 kHz) are possible per daughter card slot!
Mothership 3 channels per daughter card slot:
- 64 channels @44.1 kHz, 48 kHz
- 32 channels @88.2 kHz, 96 kHz
- 16 channels @176.4 kHz, 192 kHz
The Mothership 3 enabling technology is a new intercommunication protocol which allows for communication between the Motherboards and the Daughter cards. This allows the BMB Motherboards to know exactly what daughter cards are occupying the daughter card slots which then allows the Mothership 3 Motherboards to automatically configure the daughter card I/O mapping. This means no more jumper settings to configure daughter card I/O!
Mothership 2 allowed for 8 channel input cards, e.g. the BAD8, and jumpers were used to set which card slots were used for which specific daughter cards. Now with Mothership 3, any daughter card of any channel count can be put into any Mothership slot and the Mothership 3 BMB Motherboard will automatically configure all of the I/O.
The BURL Audio B16 Mothership 3 is a 2U, 2-slot version of the revolutionary B80 Mothership, Burl Audio’s signature product. Simply put, the B80 Mothership has redefined digital recording, and now the legendary sound can be found in a smaller, more portable B16 Mothership. Utilizing technology developed for the B80, the B16 Mothership uses the exact same I/O cards as the B80 Mothership, continuing Burl Audio’s deep dedication to analog, Class A circuitry. The result is not only heard, but it is also felt. The Mothership stands out from every other interface on the market not because it is colored, but because it does not sterilize the source.
Using a card-based system, and a heavy-duty 2U chassis, the B16 Mothership employs 2 daughter card slots with an internal power supply and your choice of Motherboard for Digilink, MADI, Dante, or SoundGrid connectivity. Every ADC channel uses a proprietary BX1 transformer and every DAC channel has the latest Burl Audio discrete op-amp, BOPA4.
For anyone who has yearned for a Mothership in a smaller format, this is a dream come true.
BMB4 Soundgrid Motherboard
The BMB4 features an Ethernet port for 64 IO channels of Waves SoundGrid connectivity. SoundGrid is an Audio-over-Ethernet networking and processing technology developed by Waves. SoundGrid provides extremely low-latency, high-channel-count audio processing using standard Intel CPUs and 1 Gbps Ethernet networks for studio, live sound, and other real-time professional audio applications. Real-time audio processing is performed on standard Intel-based plugin servers, running a Waves-customized real-time version of Linux. Waves SoundGrid audio over Ethernet technology is a robust, proven system for audio over IP networking. Amongst the competing standards for audio over IP, SoundGrid boasts impressive, low latency. With 6 BAD8s and 4 BDA8s a 48×32 IO can be achieved. With 2 BAD8s and 8 BDA8s a 16×64 IO can be achieved. With the configurability of the Mothership the IO possibilities are limitless.
- 1 SoundGrid Ethernet port
- 64-channel IO at 44.1k, 48k, 88.2k, 96k
- 2 BNC Word Clock outputs
- 1 BNC Word Clock input
BAD16 Daughter Card
The BURL Audio BAD16 is a BURL BLACK analog-to-digital converter daughter card for the B16 Mothership. The BAD16 features 16 channels of all discrete transistor, Class A, transformer-coupled, AD conversion. The BAD16 employs the latest BURL Audio NextGen analog section featuring the BX8 transformer, a smaller form factor input transformer for higher channel density.
With its higher channel density, the BAD16 brings the superior Class A analog technology that BURL Audio is known for, at a lower cost per ADC channel compared to the existing BURL GREEN ADC line.
The BAD16 in a B16 chassis is the ideal 16 channel input solution for recording musicians or project studios who have yearned for a Mothership, but the price point was beyond their budget. The BAD16 now brings the incredible BURL Audio fidelity to those looking to up their game without breaking the bank.
