Accurate in the time domain and frequency response, the Earthworks M30 is the measurement microphone is remarkably stable with respect to temperature and atmospheric conditions and are optimized for clean, very fast impulse performance providing accurate wideband response with virtually no handling noise
- 5Hz – 30kHz flat frequency response
- Omnidirectional polar pattern
- Handles up to 140dB SPL without distortion
The M30 is a precision engineered 30kHz omnidirectional measurement microphone ideally suited for acoustical measurements including loudspeaker design and quality control, sound system setup and troubleshooting, room acoustics, or any application where an accurate free-field measurement microphone is required.
Performance
Accuracy, consistency, and reliability have made the Earthworks M30 measurement microphone the first choice of live sound professionals, acousticians, and researchers all over the world for nearly twenty years. Used on countless full-scale concert tours, as well as in scientific research laboratories, tropical rainforests, and rocket testing facilities, the M30 and its M-Series siblings have proven to be lab-grade audio instruments that can handle any environment.
The M30’s audio performance is unparalleled. It has a flat frequency response that extends from 5Hz to 30kHz, an exceptionally consistent omnidirectional polar response, 138dB SPL rating without distortion and no handling noise. With temperature compensated electronics, the M30 was built to deliver repeatable results no matter what the environment.
Extremely fast impulse response and linear phase response make the M30 ideal for use with high-quality FFT-based real-time audio system measurement software like SMAART™, SIM™, REW™, Electroacoustics Toolbox™, FuzzMeasure™ and others, as well as for use in PA system alignment and loudspeaker design.
Every M30 is individually hand-tuned and tested and is delivered with its own printed frequency response chart. An Electronic Calibration File (ECF) is generated for each microphone during final testing, and can be downloaded free of charge after product registration.
The M Series has become the accepted standard for affordable, reliable reference and measurement microphones that are accurate in the time domain and frequency response. They are remarkably stable with respect to temperature and atmospheric conditions and are optimized for clean, very fast impulse performance providing accurate wideband response with virtually no handling noise.

Testimonials:
“Over the years we have all used various measurement mics but it’s evident that Earthworks have become the standard for serious measurement work as they’re recommended by numerous measurement companies such as Smaart and they’re the best way to go for the future.” – Andrew Burch
“The accuracy of the Earthworks M30 microphone is stunning. I know that when the system is tuned using this microphone the results will be pure audio bliss.” – Brad Divens, Front of House Engineer
“Every show I’ve mixed for Umphrey’s McGee is available for download. That requires accurate tuning for my mix to translate to the recording. The M30 is the most accurate way I can measure that.” – Chris Mitchell, Front of House Engineer
“I’ve been using the M30 all around the world this year and love it. It’s incredibly accurate and dependable.” – Benjamin Adamson, Front of House Engineer
“I take tuning as seriously as I do mixing. If there’s anything I own that I can honestly say makes it to every gig, its my Earthworks M30.” – Chris Rabold, Front of House Engineer
