Purple Sweet 10 Loaded 2 x Heritage HA1073 2 x AwTAC Channel Amplifier (Used)
Heritage HA1073 Module
The Heritage Audio 1073/500 API 500 Series Microphone Preamplifier Module is a 500 series compatible 80 dB microphone and 10 dB line recording reproduction module based on the vintage 1073 designed by Rupert Neve. The remake is intended for recording engineers who want the classic Neve sound. This module features the same Class A circuitry, the same specifications, and the same construction techniques used in the original 1073. In order to fit all of the same components from the original 80 series console 1073 preamplifier in the form factor of an API 500 series lunchbox, the module was designed to be 3 units wide. This way the module can contain all three of the vintage-accurate transformers, pushbuttons, dual concentric switches, and printed circuit boards.
AwTAC Channel Amplifier
Unique among all current 500 offerings
The AwTAC Channel Amp has an LCR passive mix buss (left – center- right selectable just like most consoles had up to the late 60’s, no pan pot) in the unit. Since it is a double wide module, we were able to use the extra set of I/O jacks for a mix buss. With a standard XLR cable, you can connect one Awesome into another and *POW* now you have a mixer. Just like that. The buss level, just like the paradigm of all lust worthy classic consoles with a passive buss, is conveniently set at mic level. After you’ve chained all your Channel Amps together, we’ve devised a special (awesome if you will) breakout cable that plugs into the standard XLR jack and delivers the Left and Right buss to the mic pre’s of your choice. This obviously sets you up for a myriad of tonal choices when both tracking with multiple mic’s mixed to a mono source (there are still *some* people that track guitars like this, right?) and mixing your stems (or tracks) from your DAW.
The mixing functionality is designed to work with all (every) 500 rack currently on the market. If it has a male and female XLR, you can use that rack to build a mixer out of Channel Amps. Please inquire if you have a rack with TT jacks and we’ll come up with an easy solution for you.
So yeah, its a MIXER. And a fucking good sounding one at that.

Many manufacturers, including past Purple Audio prototypes, use linear power supplies for their racks. Traditional wisdom holds that linear power supplies are ideal for audio and generate less noise and interference. However, in the case of a 10 slot series 500 rack, even a well designed linear power supply generates a substantial magnetic hum field and far too much heat to allow for internal mounting. This problem is caused in part by the wide variation of line voltage across the world.
With the advancement of switching power supplies it is now possible to have a switcher that does not compromise audio performance and delivers or exceeds all specified current needs. We have spent years perfecting just such a power supply. We have comparatively tested all of our, and many of our competitors, modules at full bandwidth (10Hz – 500kHz) on lab quality over built bench supplies to make sure that the Sweet Ten is not compromising audio performance in any way. Simply put, your 500 series modules will perform at their highest level in our rack. Audio performance improvements are considerable.
The Sweet Ten top, side, and back panels are finished in trivalent yellow chromate cold rolled steel instead of painted steel for improved grounding and shielding. Our ground plane motherboards provide additional grounding. Additionally, the rack motherboard has frequency bypass capacitors at each slot to improve filtering, especially for modules with DC/DC converters.
Functionally, the Sweet Ten offers 2 inputs and 2 outputs per slot. Many of our modules already take advantage of second output and our Moiyn mixer module will use the second input to allow for stereo balanced source injection. Future uses of these connectors include fader loops on future modules as well as a few surprises!
